Phlux wins most Innovative Startup of the Year category for North East, Yorkshire and the Humber
The StartUp Awards were established in 2022 to highlight the success of startups across nine UK nations and regions, and to celebrate the achievements of entrepreneurs in all sectors of the economy. The North East, Yorkshire and the Humber final was held at the Boiler Shop in Newcastle and saw 33 different awards given out to new businesses in categories across Consumer Services, Social Enterprise and Innovation.
Helen Bierton, Chief Banking Officer at Starling Bank says: “This year’s finalists for the North East, Yorkshire & the Humber all deserve praise for their outstanding businesses and contributions to the UK economy. From a digital health startup specialising in supporting people with rare forms of cancer, to two young entrepreneurs who are on a mission to revive honey in drinks while helping bees, and a social enterprise that enables people to borrow an item at a fraction of its buying price and not have to worry about storing it at home – it’s been impressive to see so many entrepreneurs across such a broad range of industries.”
The award and event were a great opportunity to recognise the teams amazing success this year. Ben White said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have taken home the award for Most Innovative Startup of the year for Yorkshire, Humber and the North at StartUp Awards last night.”
Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE, creator of the awards, said the events have celebrated the best new firms in the UK and recognised the amazing entrepreneurial talent across the nation. He said: “In the second year of the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber Startup Awards, we have seen yet again the incredible contribution of new businesses to job creation, innovation, and prosperity across the whole of this entrepreneurial nation. It’s been an honour and a pleasure to read the stories of those individuals from across North East, Yorkshire and the Humber who have spotted the opportunity and taken the risk to launch their own venture, especially at a time when the economy is still fragile after the Covid pandemic.
